Apply for Graduation

A student expecting to receive a degree from Athens State University should notify the Records Office of intent to graduate by submitting a Graduation Application online and paying the appropriate graduation fee. This should be done before the Graduation Application Deadline. It is strongly recommended that students consult with their academic advisor one semester prior to applying for graduation .

Students who do not apply for graduation by the deadline date will be charged a late fee in the amount of $25.00. Failure to notify the Records Office of intent to graduate in a timely manner may result in the student being required to wait until the next semester. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all graduation requirements are met. Procedure for Applying for Graduation
Students must complete the graduationg senior exit survey before thay can complete the online Graduation Application.

Once the student's application has been completed, an automatic email will be sent to the Records Office and the appropriate fee ($50.00 for first-time applicants and $13.00 for those students who have applied before but were not cleared)will be placed on the student's account.

FOLLOWING ARE THE DIRECTIONS TO BEGIN THE NEW GRADUATION PROCEDURE:

  1. Click on Athens State Online
  2. Click on Student Services & Financial Aid
  3. Click on Student Records
  4. Click on Graduation Application
  5. Choose the term you expect to graduate - Ex: Summer 2008)
  6. The following message pops up - You need to complete the Graduating Senior Exit Survey before Continuing.
    Click on Continue to take the survey.
  7. Select an Assessment
    Click on Drop-Down Box
  8. Select Graduating Senior Exit Survey (Summer 2008)

Students graduating at the end of the Fall 2013 Semester will NOT be able to apply for graduation until online registration begins for the Fall 2013 semester.

Graduation Fee
All candidates for graduation are required to pay a $50.00 fee no later than the tuition due date of the semester in which graduation will occur. Students who apply after the application deadline date will be charged an additional $25.00 late fee. This fee does not include the cap, gown and tassel. Students who applied for graduation during a certain semester, but were not cleared will need to reapply for graduation during the appropriate term and pay the $13.00 reapplication fee.

Transfer Credit
All official transcripts showing transfer credit must be received in the Records Office no later than 5 business days prior to graduation in order to be cleared for graduation.

All SIR (Special Instructional Request) grades must be received in the Records Office prior to graduation, or you may not be cleared for graduation.
