Elliott, J. L., & Thurlow, M. L. (2000). Improving test performance of students with disabilities on district and state assessments. Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin Press, Inc.

Abstracted by Michele Costanza

The authors provide a resource tool for all district level and school building personnel, especially those involved with the education and inclusion of students with disabilities. The goal is to help educators with implementation of accountability and assessment in inclusive settings. State personnel, as well as parents, are included in the target audience. The book examines approaches to improving the performance of students with disabilities. Decision-making, documenting, and tracking student progress are major areas of focus, with a lot of materials for support and practice. The authors include a professional development resource section, complete with reproducible handouts and overheads. They also list national and regional resources related to the topics discussed in the book.
