Basic Steps for Admissions

  • Complete and submit an Admission Application and pay the applicable fee. You must also submit official/unofficial transcripts for review before acceptance and before you register for classes.
  • You will be notified of your acceptance status via the contact information provided on your application once your application materials have been reviewed.
  • Request that official transcripts be sent to the Office of Admissions from each college or university that you have previously attended.
  • Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid if you plan to apply for financial aid from federal, state, or employer-sponsored tuition assistance programs.
  • It is recommended that you contact the appropriate counselor in the Transfer Student Success Center. Transfer Center counselors provide assistance with transfer of credit and assignment of faculty advisors.
  • As a new student, you will be assigned an Athens State student email address. This email address is used as the official means of communication with students by University faculty and staff. You can access your email account 24 hours after acceptance to the University through the Athens State Online link on the University home page and selecting Personal Information.
  • Contact your faculty advisor during your first semester at Athens State. Faculty advisors hold office hours during the regular semester, but may not during semester breaks. It is strongly recommended that you confirm faculty office hours or schedule an appointment before traveling long distances to the campus.
