A student may transfer to Athens State University with an Associates Degree or sixty-four semester hours of college credit with a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Early Admission
a junior college student may be considered for admission with forty-two semester hours PROVIDED he/she has a cumulative 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and has met all general education requirements before entering Athens State University.
Dual Enrollment
a junior college student with at least a 3.0 grade point average and who has completed a minimum of 32 semester hours at the junior/community college, may--with the permission of the instructional dean of the junior/community college—dual enroll at Athens State University.

Each student transferring to Athens State University must complete a Transfer/Admissions Application and return the application to the Admissions Office accompanied by a required application fee of $30. This non-refundable fee is not applicable to tuition. Admission Applications for students who do not enroll for the term specified will be destroyed after a two year span. Students will then have to submit a new application and pay the required fee.
Transfer of Course Work
The University reserves the right to accept or deny course work presented for transfer. Collegiate work will be considered for transfer credit from post secondary institutions that are fully accredited by regional accrediting associations and that offer the baccalaureate degree or associate's degree.
Course work presented for transfer from institutions not accredited by regional accrediting associations will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee at Athens State University. Any courses accepted for transfer must be appropriate to the degree and program selected at Athens State University. For additional information, students may contact the offices of Admissions and Records.

A student must request from each transferring school the OFFICIAL academic transcripts be sent and to ensure that all official transcripst have been received contact the Admissions Office at Athens State University.. |

A student must contact the Financial Aid Office immediately (if applicable) to apply for financial aid, i.e., federal, state, or employer sponsored tuition assistance plans. |

Upon completion of an admission application, requesting transcripts and declaring a major, you should contact the Transfer/Advising Center. The Transfer Center can help with transfer credit and assign a faculty advisor. You should plan to contact your assigned faculty advisor your first semester at ASU. Faculty advisors hold office hours during the regular semester, not between semesters. Each semester, Faculty advisors are available in their offices for advising two weeks before on-line registration begins. (Check the schedule each semester for any changes due to holidays.) |

This e-mail address is the major form of communication that is used by faculty and staff of Athens State University to communicate with students. Upon registering for the first time this e-mail account will become active. No other e-mail address will be used. Please take time after registering to view your student e-mail account. |
