The first will be the opening of an art exhibit in the Athens State Library from 4:30 – 5:45 pm. The exhibit will be themed around the African American experience in Northern Alabama from pre-Civil War to present day, honoring the long history of people of color in Alabama.
Following the opening reception, a film screening and forum discussion of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity” will take place in McCandless Hall from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Both of the events are free and open to the public. Special thanks to the Athens State University Library, Multi-Cultural Association and International Students, SGA, CJSA, and AAUW for sponsoring these events.
