The Athens State University Blog was created in 2013 as a working resource for the University to connect with the internet community.  The blog’s purpose is to showcase the writings of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and guest contributors.  Athens State has a treasure trove of writers on a vast array of topics – be they educational, motivational, instructional, or just plain fun.  The blog was established to be interactive with your comments welcomed.  We are glad to have you following our blog and we welcome any input or requests.


Faculty, staff, students, alumni and invited contributors are welcomed to submit articles of 500 words or less for possible publication to the Athens State University Blog.  Please submit the article via email to AthensStateBlog@athens.edu for consideration.  The guidelines below should be followed:

Blog Submission Guidelines and Policies for Athens State University Blog:

Submission & Review Process –Submissions will be reviewed and published or returned within two business weeks. If the work is returned, a Blog Supervisor will inform the sender regarding the reason the submission was not accepted and whether an option to “revise and re-submit” is extended. 

Blog Policies:

Blog may not include content or links that, upon viewing, reasonably causes an intimidating, hostile, or offensive learning and/or working environment.

Blog content may not be used to promote activities that are illegal, support commercial activities not associated with the University, or to provide personal financial gain.

A web page may be considered in violation of content policies if it contains links to pages that violate the policy.

All material on the blog must be in compliance with copyright laws and the University’s Copyright Compliance Policy and Guidelines.  The copyright and all related rights to the original work posted are owned by the author.

Blog users agree to represent themselves accurately.  Misrepresentation may lead to termination of users’ blog privileges and deletion of content.

Users cannot sell materials or products for entities that do not represent Athens State University.

This blog may not be used solely for personal gain, or for promoting any product or political candidate.

Athens State University intends to archive all content for historical, non-commercial purposes. By posting content to the blog, users grant permission for Athens State University to archive content.

Athens State University reserves the right to remove or adapt content on the blog at any time based on its sole interpretation of legal policy including the university’s policies as well as local, state and federal laws.
