At Athens State University, we have many student clubs looking for new members and new ideas. Perhaps you are a closet artist who wants to learn more and participate but do not want to take classes – we have an Art Club for that. Or maybe you are a teacher-in-training and want to visit and learn from other teachers-in-training – there’s the Athens State University Teacher Ambassadors. Maybe you want to participate in things like cookouts and other student-led activities that create a collegiate atmosphere – then maybe the Student Government Association is the club for you.

From clubs for Christian fellowship (Wesley Fellowship) to clubs for students interested in law or law school (Pre-Law Society) to honor societies for History (Phi Alpha Theta), Education (Kappa Delta Pi), Mathematics (Kappa Mu Epsilon), Business Administration (Delta Mu Delta), or English (Sigma Tau Delta), there are quite a variety of clubs that Athens State offers.
Perhaps there is not a club that you would like to be a part of, but you have an idea for a club – – there are steps in place for new clubs to be formed. There are also clubs that have been already formed, but are currently inactive and in need of rejuvenation. This process is a necessary evil, but is not terribly lengthy. The first step is to contact the Student Activities Office with the idea and have a group of at least five members and a few documents; A Petition for Recognition and Statement of Officers along with a Constitution or Statement of Purpose and a Membership list. The club will first be approved/denied by the Director of Student Activities, the Student Government Association, and finally the Vice-President of Enrollment Management and Student Support Services. This has been done so many times that it has become a smooth process.
We hope that you will find a club that you want to be a part of, or decide that we are missing some sort of club on campus and start the process of creating a new one. Athens State University prides itself on student involvement, and being part of a club is a wonderful start to becoming the best part of the Athens State family that you can be!
