Athens State University offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies for students seeking to enter or advance in the field of criminal justice. A degree in Justice Studies is also excellent preparation for those choosing to pursue a graduate degree or attend law school.
Criminal justice is the system that society uses to enforce its laws, adjudicate suspected violators, and correct those found guilty. The criminal justice system currently employs approximately two and a half million people at the local, state and federal levels. The U.S. Department of Labor expects positions in criminal justice to grow at a rate equal to or faster than average over the next decade.
The Justice Studies Program includes courses in law enforcement, criminology, criminal law, justice process, corrections and juvenile delinquency. There are also courses in government, ethics, and public administration to prepare students for supervisory positions.
Courses are offered in a variety of times, locations, and formats to help students schedule classes around their other responsibilities.
Please contact one of the Justice Studies faculty members for additional information.
