Track I mathematics majors are required to complete a minor. Suggestions for a minor for the student interested in business and industry would be Computer Information Systems (CIS) in the Computer Science (CS) department or one of the many minors offered in the College of Business. If the student is interested in a scientific field, suggestions for a minor might be computer science or a minor in a natural science. It is recommended that Track I majors complete Calculus-based Physics I and II as their Area III natural science requirement if they intend to enter a scientific profession.

Track II is the licensure/certification track for the mathematics major interested in teaching mathematics in grades 6-12. The certification track has 36 required semester hours in the College of Education certification program, so no minor is required. Either track will prepare students for graduate studies as well. In addition, the Department of Mathematics offers a 24-semester hour minor. See the online catalog for details of the minor.
