Delta Mu Delta
Alpha Iota Chapter

Membership in Delta Mu Delta
Delta Mu Delta is the National Honor Society in Business Administration. The purpose of Delta Mu Delta is to recognize and reward superior scholastic achievement by business students. Our local chapter, Alpha Iota, has been on campus over 30 years. Qualified students may be invited to join the society during our spring initiation ceremony.

Selection for membership in the Society is a great honor and has a number of advantages. For these reasons we want to ensure that all qualified students are considered. To be considered for membership, the candidate must:
  • Be majoring in an approved program of study and have completed at least half the work required for the degree.
  • Be scholastically qualified with an overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale and be in the top 20 percent of the college class.
  • Be of good character.
Copies of a membership letter that lists qualifications in greater detail are available. If you feel that you meet, or will meet, these requirements and are interested in becoming a member of Delta Mu Delta, please complete the form on the membership letter and return to the School of Business office, Founders Hall #303.

Scholarships
National Scholarship:  The National program offers 39 awards ranging from $500 to $2000.

Local Scholarship:  The local program is administered by the Alpha Iota Chapter with one award for $600 and a second award for $1,000.

Both types of awards are available to all students registered in business programs at Athens State University. In addition, the local chapter awards are available to junior college students transferring to Athens State University by the following Fall Term. Awards are based on scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, character, motivation, need, and potential.

Applicants need not be members of Delta Mu Delta. Graduating seniors may qualify for awards to be used in graduate studies in business; however, the application must be made while attending Athens State. The odds of winning an award are very high. Historically, one in four applicants win an award.

The application procedure is fairly simple to complete. A completed application form, an official transcript of college credits and at least two letters of recommendation are required. The application packet must be submitted by March 1 of each year for consideration. Please submit the completed packets to both the National Delta Mu Delta at Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, 9217 Broadway Ave., Brookfield IL 60513-1251 and submit the local to Athens State University, Attn: Dr. Brenda Harper, 300 North Beaty Street, Athens Alabama 35611.
