April 1st -May 30th - Window opens for students to submit online Request for Field Experience.
(Placements will be posted as requests are processed.)
May 30th - Due date to submit an online Request for Field Experience
(Late requests must be cleared by the Dean of the College of Education.)
June 9-27 - Time frame for students to complete their required days of field experience
(3 week period)
Fall Semester 2008
Aug. 18 - Sept. 8 - Window opens for students to submit online Request for Field Experience.

“FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL” INSTRUCTIONAL INTERNSHIP INITIATIVE (Fall 2008 COE Interns)
The College of Education at Athens State University is continuously examining opportunities to better serve our students and the educational communities of Alabama. ASU is piloting the "FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL" Instructional Internship Initiative for the fall 2008 semester. Interns will be placed at their respective school site for the FIRST three actual student days of school. The three day placement will be a part of the total 75 days of the students' internship; they are not additional days, but an earlier starting date.
More information will be shared at the July 28th meeting.
DATES TO REMEMBER:
July 28, 2008 Mandatory “FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL” Fall 2008 Intern Meeting
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ASU Ballroom
Beginning of August
You will be placed with your assigned teacher for the FIRST three days of schools that students attend. Most school districts will begin the FIRST week of August. Make plans to attend the THREE (3) required first days of school for your assigned placement. You will receive your specific date(s) for the three days at the July 28th meeting.
August 25, 2008 MANDATORY Orientation Seminar
11:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. ASU Ballroom
12:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Lunch on your own
August 26, 2008 Interns continue student teaching placement (72 days)
