Job fairs are wonderfully hectic and
non-structured environments. Come early, and be prepared
to distribute résumés and to be interviewed on the spot.
- create a one-minute
"commercial" about yourself;
- research the participating
employers before the day of the event;
- be curious and ask questions;
- hand out lots of résumés;
- practice your interviewing skills beforehand;
- dress professionally;
- chat with recruiters and
collect business cards on which to jot down
notes;
- ask about specific positions
and salary ranges (not specific salary);
- follow up with
companies/school systems either by mailing or
e-mailing a thank you note, or by calling if
appropriate.
