Job Search & Assistance
You can register on and search the national and local job links on the Counseling and Career Services web site: www.athens.edu/counseling. This site also provides resume and cover letter samples. When you visit the office, pick up a free copy of Job Choices, a magazine published for graduating college students by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. These magazines are available while supplies last.

Register with Career Services six months before your graduation. Prepare your professional credentials for our office to send to advertised job openings. For your file, we need:

Graduate School Assistance If you are interested in attending graduate school within the next few years, you may want to take either the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or the MAT (Miller Analogies Test) in your senior year or soon after you graduate. Scores will be accepted by most graduate programs for up to 3 years. Test registration bulletins are available in the Career Services office. Athens State University administers the MAT on-campus; call 233-6540. Visit www.gre.org or www.MillerAnalogies.com for registration information and practice tests.

Résumé Assistance
Career Services can help you design an effective résumé; drop your résumé off to be critiqued. Make an appointment if you need some assistance in your job search, 233-8285. A certified career counselor is available to help you.
Career Strategies, PS 364, is a one credit elective course usually offered once during the fall and spring semester to prepare you for your transition from college to a professional career.
