Job Search & Assistance
You can register on and search the teacher job links on the Counseling and Career Services web site. This site also has sample résumés and cover letters. When you visit the office, pick up a free copy of The Job Search Handbook for Educators, published by the American Association for Employment in Education. These handouts are available while supplies last.
Professional Preparation
Register with Career Services six months before graduation. Prepare your education credentials for our office to send to school systems. Up to 5 packets of credentials are sent free upon your request; additional packets are $3 each. For your file, we need:

Education/Community Service Job Fair (tentative)
Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Student Center Ballroom, ASU Main Campus. Come professionally dressed with at least 20 résumés. School systems, government agencies, social services, and non-profit agencies are invited to attend. |
Graduate School Assistance
If you are interested in attending graduate school within the next few years, you may want to take either the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or the MAT (Miller Analogies Test) in your senior year or soon after you graduate. Scores will be accepted by most graduate programs for up to 3 years. Test registration bulletins are available in the Career Services office.

Out of State Certification
For the Praxis Exam, registration bulletins are available at the ASU Career Services Office. Testing dates at ASU: August 4, September 8 2007. Tentative testing dates for November 2007- July 2008 are: November 17, 2007 and January 12, March 15, April 26, June 14, July 26, 2008.
Resume Assistance
Career Services can help you design an effective education résumé; drop your résumé off to be critiqued. Make an appointment if you need some assistance in your job search, 256-233-8285. A certified career counselor is available to help you plan your job search and prepare for interviews.
Career Strategies, ED 364, is a one-credit elective course usually offered during fall and spring semesters to prepare you for your transition from college to a professional teaching career.
