Centurion Club

The Centurion Club founded in 1992 at Athens State University is open to all students, staff and faculty. The purpose of the organization is to assist persons with disabilities gain access in every way to all activities, programs, services and facilities at Athens State. Some of the activities include:
  • Support and social group for people with disabilities,FUN!
    • held pizza parties and cookouts
    • participated in Fiddlers’ Convention
  • Student representatives participate on the campus ADA/504 Committee
    YOUR VOICE IS HEARD!
  • Meetings are held monthly to plan programs related to disability services, and to raise funds to purchase adaptive equipment
    EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT!
    • purchased closed caption TV for the dorm
    • sponsored Disability Awareness Day
    • taught fundamental sign language
    • toured TASC and AIDB in Huntsville
    • sponsored on-campus speakers from TASC, Alabama Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Sign Painters, Kids on the Block
