Apply for a U.S. Department of Education PIN Number
Apply for a PIN number from the U.S. Department of Education. This is your electronic signature for the FAFSA, renewal FAFSA and Master Promissory Note for Loans. The PIN is also your access to your online aid history and your access to correct your Student Aid Report Online. It will be mailed to you in 7 to 10 days or e-mailed within 72 hours. KEEP YOUR PIN IN A SAFE PLACE--WE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT FOR YOU.

Apply for Federal Aid
Apply for Federal Aid . Apply for Federal Aid . Use this link to apply for federal student aid programs at the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Site. This application will determine a student's eligibility for grant and loan programs. The results of this application will be mailed to the student and electronically transmitted to each school listed in the student's application. Athens State University School Code - 001008.

Apply for a Direct Student Loan
Students requesting loan funding must also meet the one time requirements of Entrance Counseling and Complete a Master Promissory Note online. Students may link to the online sites to meet these requirements. The Master Promissory note requires a PIN number to complete. Please notify the Financial Aid Office when both steps are complete.

Free Assistance is available in applying for aid from the North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence (NACEE). NACEE also provides academic, career and personal counseling; tutoring; and assists with Financial Aid and Admissions Applications. Offices are located at:
