MilitaryVALoan.com is pleased to offer scholarships in support of disability awareness. Every year, a prospective or current college student will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help with the costs associated with attending school. January 31: Julia Corine Barnes Scholarship
The Julia Corine Barnes scholarship by Questia is open to all students pursuing a degree in language, linguistics or literature. To apply, students can submit their application including a one-paged personal statement detailing what they are majoring in and what they hope to accomplish with their major.

January 31: Dan Coiro Scholarship
The Dan Coiro Scholarship by CengageBrain is open to all students pursuing a degree in science or engineering. To apply, students must submit a full application and a personal statement proposing solutions for keeping education affordable. Three scholarship winners will be awarded $2500 each.

February 28: Education-Portal.com Scholarships
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.

Tuition Won’t Stop Me Scholarship. Students can apply for Education Portal’s $1000 Tuition Won’t Stop Me Scholarship from now until March 15th at 5 pm PST. Find all of the instructions and rules here.

March 31: Huntsville Chapter of American Society of Women Accountants
The Huntsville chapter of American Society of Women Accountants is honored to present a scholarship opportunity for ambitious women attending accredited colleges and universities who are pursuing a degree in Accounting and have a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours. Deadline for submitting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year is March 31, 2013. Applications are available at the site listed below or in the Financial Aid Office.

April 1: Degree Directory.org Scholarships
Scholarships are available to students earning an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in the specified scholarships. Unique scholarships are available to students earning a degree online.

April 1: AICPA Scholarships
The AICPA offers three scholarship programs ranging in value from $2,500 to $5,000 and given to 100 full-time accounting students:

  • AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship
  • AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship
  • AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students
Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2013.

April 1: The WEDC Foundation Scholarship
The WEDC Foundation helps women make their dreams of economic independence come true. Financial assistance, mentors and professional development programs are provided to women in Madison, Marshall, Morgan and Limestone counties of Alabama who are driven to overcome daunting hurdles and obtain a college degree or a technical training certificate. Scholarship recipients receive financial assistance to use for tuition and books, or other activities that enable them to stay in school such as childcare or transportation. Following an application, interview and selection process, scholarships are awarded each Spring to new and returning scholars for use in the upcoming school year, and amounts vary per scholar. Scholar Applications must be postmarked by April 1, and scholar selections are announced by June 9.

April 15: Charles R. Ullman & Associates Scholarship
The law firm of Charles R. Ullman & Associates is now offering four scholarships in their Scholarship Essay Contest to deserving undergraduate and graduate college students who author winning essays on either the marital domestic violence or marital communication topics explained in detail on their website.

Essays must be submitted by 10 p.m. on April 15, 2013. Awards will be distributed to essay contest winners after they have been notified on May 15, 2013.

April 15: USLeaseOption.com Scholarship
USLeaseOption.com is proud to announce its first scholarship helping one promising student entrepreneur help pay for his or her higher education. This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance and recognition to as qualified minority student entrepreneurs who have started, plan to start, or are interested in starting a business while enrolled in college.

April 30: Internet Initiative Scholarship
Internet Initiative is offering a scholarship for $2,500. To apply write a 500 to 1000-word blog post answering the question: What do you plan to do after college? How would you use the internet to help you excel in your occupation? Next, go to the website below and fill out the form provided. Don’t forget to share your post with others - winning blogs will be posted on Internet Marketplace!

May 15: Joanna F. Reed Medical Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must reside in Alabama or Northwest Florida (see documents for definition of "Northwest Florida"), have been accepted for entrance by a recognized private medical school, and be pursuing a degree in pre-medicine.

The scholarship contest is open to all U.S. residents who are either high school seniors or college students who are already enrolled. The entry requirements are to write a 500-word essay on one of two topics related to the casual/mobile/online gaming industry.

$2,500 scholarship to students interested in business leadership and/or entrepreneurship.

Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to continue with their scholarship program for the 4th year. Scholarships up to $1000 will be awarded.

Each year, The Hayes Barnard Paramount Equity Young Entrepreneur Scholarship will award $12,000 to a student who best embodies the entrepreneurial spirit.

Other Scholarships

Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education Leadership in Child Care Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance (tuition and selected fees) to qualified child care professionals working in child care centers/programs, and family and group homes to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Short-Term Certificate, Certificate, or Associate in Applied Science/Technology Degree in Child Development/Early Care and Education studies.

The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarships
The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need. Army ROTC scholarships consist of:

  • Two, three, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
  • Full-tuition scholarships
  • The option for room and board in place of tuition, if you should qualify
  • Additional allowances for books and fees
  • Living expenses of up to $500 per month during the school year

Athens State University students can enroll in the ROTC program through a visiting student agreement with Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, located just north of Huntsville, Alabama. This agreement allows interested students to earn a commission in the Army upon completion of pre-commissioning training requirements and receipt of their degree.
