Foundation Scholarships-Review process begins on May 1st

The Athens State University Foundation has numerous scholarships available. Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation, copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, and write a short essay addressing your financial need, including the scholarships and financial aid you have already received, what you have to offer Athens State University, and state any extracurricular activities and honors.

Scholarships for new entering students Spring 2010/Summer 2010

Academic Scholarships

are awarded to transfer students with outstanding academic achievements. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required. Awards vary.

Deadline is January 29, 2010 for awards beginning in the spring 2010 semester.

Athens State University Need-Based Scholarship Program
Need-Based Scholarships are awarded to students who meet specific criteria regarding their financial need. Eligible students must qualify for the Federal Pell Grant Program; must have and keep a minimum 2.0 grade point average; must be a regular, degree-seeking student; and must maintain enrollment in all course registrations. Deadline: January 29, 2010.

Scholarships for 2010/2011 school year

Scholarships- February Deadline

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship
awarded to a current member in good standing of an Alabama Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Student must be a new entering student with a 3.5 transfer grade point average. The award is a tuition waiver of up to $1600.00 for two academic years. Up to ten awards are made annually. The deadline for applications is 4:30 pm on February 28.

Scholarships- May 30th Deadline

Presidential Scholarships
are awarded on outstanding academic achievement and leadership; 4.0 grade point average minimum required. The scholarship is a full award and waives all lab fees.Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year.

Student Activities Leadership Scholarships
are awarded to outstanding transfer student with demonstrated leadership qualities through participation with clubs and organizations. Awards vary. These students will assist with campus activities through the Student Activities Office. Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year.

Athenian Scholarships
are awarded to an Editor and Assistant Editor(s) of the University newspaper. Awards vary. These outstanding students will oversee the publication of The Athenian. Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year. 

Alumni Scholarships
are awarded to a entering student who has a minimum of 3.25 grade point average required. Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year.
 
Geraldine Whitt Alumni Scholarship
is awarded to a new student with a minimum 3.25 grade point average. Applicant must include a paragraph on why you feel you should receive the Alumni Scholarship to ASU, including a statement of need. In a second paragraph describe what you have to offer ASU. Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year. 

Golf Scholarship
is awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership qualities through clubs and organizations at transfer institution and minimum 3.0 grade point average from transfer institution. Recipient must maintain a full-time status (12 credit hours) while enrolled and attend the main Athens State University campus and work 150 hours per semester for the Alumni Office, as assigned by the Coordinator of Alumni Affairs. Deadline is May 30 for the awards in the following academic year.

Scholars Bowl Scholarships
Scholarships (2) may be offered to individuals interested in participating on the Athens State University Scholars Bowl Team.  Contact Team Advisor –Dr. Kevin Dupre for information


The Dottie and JJ Donahue SGA President's Scholarship
is awarded to the president of SGA, $150 per semester for fall and spring semesters. No application is required.

Senior Adult Scholarship Program
This program allows any student 60 years or older (meeting admissions requirements) to receive a tuition waiver for college credit courses on a space available basis only. Space available basis requires registration during the late registration time period.  Contact the Business Office for the waiver.

North Alabama International Trade Association Scholarships
are awarded to individuals who have been accepted to Athens State University. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be enrolled as a student for the fall and spring semesters, and be a International Business minor.
