Mid-Year Transfer Aid
Students transferring to Athens State University during an academic year may be eligible to receive any unused aid eligibility for the academic year as determined by federal regulation, provided the student meets eligiblity requirements at Athens State University. A student may not receive aid from more than one institution for the same payment period.
Athens State University Financial Aid Office must have the student's electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) for the current year. The SAR is the output document from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
If Athens State University is listed as a school choice on the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid the student's information will be received electronically. If Athens State University is not listed as a school choice , it may be added through one of the following methods:

 

Add it Electronically
The student may add the school code electronically to the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Select “Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA” and follow all instructions. Add Athens State University school code - 001008 in appropriate field. The student must have a U.S. Department of Education PIN number to make any corrections to a FAFSA. A PIN can be obtained at www.pin.ed.gov.

  Add it by Phone
The student may call the Federal Processing Center at 1-800-4FED-AID to add Athens State University school code-001008.
The Student may be selected for verification by the Department of Education. Each applicant selected for Verification must submit the documentation required by the Department of Education to: Athens State University, Office of Student Financial Services, 300 North Beaty Street, Athens, AL 35611, 256.233.8178 (fax)
Athens State University Financial Aid Office will generate an award offer for each student with a complete file (Student Aid Report and verification documentation, if required).

  The award offer will be available online @ www.athens.edu. Notice of offer available online will be emailed to the student's school email account.
  The student's accepted aid awards will be credited to his or her account.
  Students with incomplete files will receive a letter or email outlining documentation requirements and deadline dates for submission of the required documentation. Missing document list may be viewed inside the secure area of the Athens State University web site.

REMEMBER TO APPLY FOR AID EACH YEAR AT WWW.FAFSA.ED.GOV .

Please note: Students may not receive aid from more than one school for the same period of time.
