With the exception of part-time (adjunct) positions, applications are accepted only for posted vacancies. The University does not maintain files of resumes for future notification. You are encouraged to visit this site for employment opportunities and to apply for any position for which you might qualify.

What is a complete application packet?

A complete application package generally consists of:

  • Athens State University Application of Employment
  • Personal letter of application
  • Resume
  • Unofficial transcripts from the college or university from which the highest degree was conferred. Upon an offer of employment, official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  • At least one Letter of Work Expererience in writing from current or previous employers confirming the required and/or preferred level of experience as stated in the "Qualifications" section. All professional letters must be original, on letterhead, and signed by the writer.

Please see each vacancy notice for any variance of these requirements.

What is the difference between a required qualification and a preferred (or desired) qualification?

A required qualification is necessary to qualify for a position, and failure to substantiate each will preclude the possibility of an interview. Preferred (or desired) qualifications are not necessary to qualify for a position but may be used to select from among the applicants.

How will I know the status of the search process?

The search committee will arrange interviews with selected applicants. Generally, these interviews occur within two weeks of the application deadline. The search committee will arrange an interview between the President and each of the top three applicants recommended by the search committee. Once an offer of employment is extended and accepted, all other applicants are notified by letter that the position has been filled.
