Last Day for Writing Center Peer-Tutoring Appointments


The Writing Center will conclude a successful semester of face-to-face and online tutoring on April 18, 2014. It will re-open during the second week of classes in the Summer 2014 semester. We appreciate everyone who has made use of the Writing Center, and look forward to continuing to serve our students in the future! Alumni Arts Show Starts
9:00 am

Athens State University alumni artists are excited to announce the 8th in their series of art shows. The exhibit will be held at the Athens State University Center for Lifelong Learning.

Exhibiting artist include Gary Anderson, Patty Anderson, Gail Bergeron, Allisa Clark, Lenore Corey, Cindy Cummings, Valerie Curtis, Richard Drewyor, Dennis Johnson, Janice Lowther, and Beth Paul. The show will display a variety of styles, media, and technique. This diversity represents the wide range of talent and skill produced and refined at the university and continued throughout the community.

The exhibit will be April 21 – May 16, 2014 during regular open hours. There will be a reception Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Center for Lifelong Learning is at 121 South Marion Street in Athens, Alabama.

Alumni Golf Classic

The Annual Alumni Golf Classic is Thursday, May 15th (Rain Date: May 22nd) at Canebrake Club with a 1:00 pm shotgun start. All proceeds fund scholarships for the next academic year. Four person team fees are $500 and include lunch, greens fees, golf cart, course refreshments, hospitality gifts and prizes. Lunch is at 11:30 in front of the clubhouse. Tiered sponsorships are also available at: $1000- entire hole and banner, $500- half hole and sign, $250- quarter hole and sign and $100- shared hole and sign. The Athenian Ambassadors are the official hosts and hostesses of Athens State University. They are responsible for assisting with campus tours, receptions, and various community events. The Athenians are currently accepting applications through August 29, 2014. Applications can be found here. Athenian interviews will be on September 5, 2014 and all who are chosen must attend a mandatory workshop on September 12, 2014.
