Athens State Awarded Military Friendly Schools Title from Victory Media Inc.

October 2, 2013

ATHENS, Ala. - Athens State University has once again been named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine, a division of Victory Media, Inc. The 2014 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

“Athens State is proud of our Veterans Program and it is an honor to once again be part of this listing of educational institutions promoting and serving our students with military backgrounds,” states Athens State’s Director of Veterans Affairs Lisa Payne.

Athens State has been named to the list of Military Friendly Schools for the past four years. The list of institutions was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. The survey results that comprise the 2013 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.
