Mr. and Ms. Athens State University Recognized

ATHENS, Ala. - Athens State President Bob Glenn named the 2013 Mr. and Ms. Athens State University on Thursday evening, February 28 at a reception in Founders Hall Parlor. Mr. and Ms. Athens State University for 2013 are Jake Worthington and Callie Patterson.

Jacob “Jake” Worthington is from Madison and is the son of Will and Judy Worthington and Don and Valerie DeLuca. He transferred to Athens State from Calhoun Community College. Worthington is pursuing a degree in Management with a minor in Small Business/Entrepreneurship. He is an active member and president of the American Advertising Federation and was nominated for the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Worthington is on track to graduate in May of this year.

Calliesha “Callie” Patterson, the daughter of Clinton and Shewatha Yates Gusler, graduated from Athens High School in 2008 and is working towards a double major in Health Care Management and Human Resource Management. In addition to her studies, she works in Athens State’s Admissions Office and is active in the Student Government Association and the Wesley Foundation. Patterson serves as secretary of the American Advertising Federation and has volunteered at Limestone County’s Child Advocacy Center. In 2012 she was chosen to participate in the Leading Edge Institute Class XI.
