Art Students Exhibiting in Pulaski, TN Cafe

October 15, 2013

ATHENS, Ala. - Athens State University junior and senior art majors will be exhibiting their original works of art at the invitation of Pulaski native Jack White, chef at Savory Jacks’ Café at 227 N. 1st Street in Pulaski, Tennessee. The art exhibition is called APPETIZING. The show is on exhibit now through October 30th. There will be an artist’s reception on October 29th at 6:00 p.m. at the café. Both the reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

White’s business partner and friend from L.A., builder/designer Lee Behzadi, purchase all three of the buildings in downtown Pulaski, Tennessee where the café/gallery is located just one block off the courthouse square. These historic buildings were built in 1890, and Behzadi has been transforming and renovating them into what will become an entertainment complex.

“I came to know Jack White during a time while I was working on a commission from him for a bronze face casting a few years ago," said Pamela Keller, Professor of Art at Athens State University and organizer of the exhibition. "He told me then of his plans for the entertainment complex and I've been a fan since.”

Keller continues, “These are fascinating men to talk to, full of ambitious and inspirational ideas for art students. Jack White has worked with great film and television talent, and most recently been on the sets of Iron Man 2 and The Hunger Games Catching Fire. It’s so wonderful that he wants to help students from the art department to exhibit their work and build their resumes.”

The Athens State student artists, along with White and Behzadi, will be available during the October 29 reception to meet and talk with the attendees.
