| Archives |
Located on the second floor of the Library, the mission of the Archives is to identify, gather together, preserve, and catalog the historical records and papers of enduring value to Athens State University.
Persons wishing to use archival materials should submit a written request to the person at the Circulation Desk, at least 24 hours in advance of the desired Archives visit. Written request forms are available at the Circulation Desk. Rare and unique materials may be examined only with a librarian or archivist present. Duplication of archival materials can be conducted only on the library copiers with a librarian present.
Presently, the Archives is open on Friday by appointment only. For further information about the Archives, call Circulation at 216-6669.
Gift Policy
The Athens State University Archives collects photographs and documents for the purpose of preserving them for use by the University and community.
Athens State supports the program by reproducing copies of donated items on an individual basis and in publications. Donation of non-copyrighted items gives the Archives the right to publish and reproduce said items unless otherwise specified on this form.
The Archives reserves the right to refuse any contribution if the item does not fit the collection policy of the Archives; or if the item is of questionable origin, or if restrictions on the item conflicts with the Archives Mission Statement.
All items donated to and accepted by the Archives become property of the Archives and cannot be returned to the donor, their family, or heirs unless specific provisions are made at the time of donation.
