Collection
The collection is developed primarily to support the curriculum of the University. The Library houses over 100,000 books. The online catalog serves as an index to the books in the library. Through participating in the Library Management Network, patrons may access holdings in twelve area libraries as well. Instructions for use of the online catalog may be found near each catalog terminal. Please ask the Reference Librarian if you need assistance.

The Library carries approximately 220 serial subscriptions in conventional paper format. All subscriptions are listed in the Library's periodical holdings list, available in the Reference area. Additionally, electronic databases provide full-text for articles in thousands of periodical titles. Inquiries about specific titles carried by the library, and questions regarding the selection and use of appropriate periodical indexes, should be directed to the Reference Librarian on duty. Informational sheets are available at Reference describing the nature and use of the major indexes.
For books and periodicals not owned by the Athens State University Library, most can be provided quickly and free of charge for current Athens State faculty and students through Interlibrary Loan services. To inquire about obtaining material from other libraries, ask at the Reference Desk, or contact Interlibrary Loan directly by phone at 233-8296, by e-mailing
Judy Stinnett, or by accessing the request for the ILL through the
Online Catalog.
