Look in an Encyclopedia

When Sandy looks in the indexes of some general encyclopedias, she finds several ways to narrow the topic of communication.

Student looking at dictionaries

In the Encyclopedia Americana, she finds terms such as:

  • Animal communication
  • Body language
  • Cartoon
  • Cybernetics
  • Linguistics
  • Nonverbal communication
  • Photography
  • Sign language
  • Telecommunications
  • Telepathy
  • Universal language

She also finds that Athens State students have access to online resources such as the Encyclopedia Britannica available on the Library home page under Databases, and through the Alabama Virtual Library.

After looking at some articles in the encyclopedias, she decides she would like to narrow her research topic to some type of nonverbal communication.
