Policy Library

Athens State University recognizes the importance of providing access to up-to-date information regarding University policies and procedures. The policy library was developed to ensure easy accessibility to approved university-wide policies and procedures. The policy library is updated as policies and procedures are approved or revised. Questions regarding policies may be directed to the appropriate University Office or to the University Policy Analyst at (256) 233-8211.

University Policies

Policies set by the Board of Trustees expressing the comprehensive or overriding expectations and/or requirements of the Board, as the executive body governing the University, related to achieving the mission of the University or to the duties of the President.

Operating Policies

Policies and associated procedures and/or guidelines defining the specific expectations or requirements of the President for each administrator, area, or function of the University, in accordance with the comprehensive requirements defined in the University Policies. Operating policies generally fall into one of the seven categories below.

Administrative
Policies that are of a general administrative or operational nature and that apply broadly to members of the University community.

Academic
Policies related to the academic programs and courses offered by the University.

Financial
Policies related to accounting, budgeting, grants, procurement, travel, and other financial functions of the University.

Human Resources
Policies related to employees and their working relationship with the University, including hiring, compensation, leave performance evaluations, and related issues.

Student Affairs
Policies related to student life, student code of conduct, and other areas directly related to students as members of the University community.

Information Technology
Policies covering IT systems, web services, electronic mail, access, data, and related functions.

Research
Policies related to research, facility/resource use, copyright, and intellectual property, outside research consulting, and related issues.
