The objective of the major in accounting is to prepare students for a wide variety of careers in professional accounting, including public accounting, industrial accounting, internal auditing, and government service and to provide an academic framework for future graduate study. Students who plan to sit for the CPA Exam in Alabama must complete a total of at least 150 semester hours. This may be accomplished by completing additional courses or completing a master’s degree that provides the coursework required by the Alabama CPA Board.
