Athens State University :: Student Activities

The Student Activities Program is designed to enhance the total development of the students through opportunities for personal growth and social development by providing a broad-based program which includes cultural, recreational and intellectual opportunities for all students.

This program compliments the academic program of studies and enhances the overall educational experience through the development of, exposure to, and participation in the various activities available by providing opportunities for the development of student leadership skills by cooperative planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities.

Scholarships

Student Activities Leadership Scholarships
Demonstrated leadership qualities through clubs and organizations at transfer institution, grade point average minimum of 3.0; must participate in activities of Athens State University. Two full scholarships are awarded, and only new students are eligable. See Tena Bullington in the Student Activities Office for an application or call 256-233-8243.

Dottie and J.J. Donahue SGA President Scholarship
Awarded to the president of the Student Government Association, $150 per semester. See Tena Bullington in the Student Activities Office.

The Athenian Scholarship
A full scholarship is awarded to the editor of the university newspaper. This scholarship is contingent upon the student's satisfactorily fulfilling the requirements of the position and maintaining a 3.0 grade point average. Partial scholarships are available for two assistant editors, contingent upon the student fulfilling the requirements of the position and maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
