Writing Center

About the ASU Writing Center
The Writing Center, located in the Athens State University Library, room 121, provides a supportive learning environment for students in all colleges at ASU to meet their writing goals and objectives. The Writing Center is staffed with peer writing advisors—students—who work with their peers on various academic and professional writing assignments. Writing advisors engage writers in conversation about their writing, pose questions, and discuss revision strategies. Writing advisors do not edit, proofread, or write texts for their peers—although they do have productive, educational ways to discuss grammar, editing skills, and proofreading. Come for help with brainstorming, invention, arrangement, revision, style, and sentence structure for both traditional “paper” assignments and multimodal projects such as a Powerpoint presentation or a website. We provide writing sessions face-to-face, and we are piloting a new textual "chat" feature for live online sessions. Online chat sessions must be scheduled in advance, and students must "show up" online at the scheduled time to keep an appointment. Click below to make a face-to-face or an online appointment.
