Bridgette
Bridgette is a full-time English Education Student. She transferred in the fall of 2013 from Calhoun Community College, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) English Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa. Bridgette has had two short stories and a poem published in Calhoun’s literary magazine Muse. She won second place in the SKD National Poetry Competition, and as a result her poem was also published in the 2013 Hedera Helix, SKD’s National Literary Magazine. She loves to write both for fun and for academic purposes. She hopes to publish a collection of short stories at some point in the future. In the meantime, she will finish her degree and find a teaching job in a local high school before starting on her master’s. She is the assistant editor of the Athens State Newspaper, The Athenian, and is thrilled to be working in the writing center.

Bridgette lives in Elkmont with her husband and two boys.

Samantha
Samantha is a full time student currently seeking a Bachelor’s in Management, with a minor in Management Information Systems. After high school she went straight to work in Administration for a family-owned construction company in Michigan. Sam left that job and moved to Alabama in 2001, and she entered the restaurant industry, where she has spent the last twelve years. She started working towards a degree in 2011, and she hasn’t looked back. Sam was a member of SKD at Calhoun, and she was honored to be a part of this English Honor Society. Reading and writing are her favorite things to do, and she enjoys helping people with the whole writing process.
Ben
Ben is a former newspaper reporter with a degree in Communications from the University of North Alabama. He is pursuing a second Bachelor's at Athens State, this time in Computer Science. He has six years of journalism experience, including two with the Decatur Daily. He is 28 years old, has two cats and is very good at Monopoly. He lives in Lacey's Spring.
Leah
Leah is a full-time student in the process of earning her Bachelor’s in English/Language Arts in Secondary Education at Athens State. She transferred from Calhoun Community College in the Fall of 2013 after earning her Associate's that was stamped with the honor of Summa Cum Laude. While at Calhoun, she was a part of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta. She has won Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, multiple scholarships from Calhoun, and the Presidential Scholarship from Athens State. Leah also works for Calhoun’s Writing Lab, and has worked for Kumon’s Math and Reading Center helping Pre-K students learn their alphabet, improve their reading skills, and other basic English skills. Her ultimate goal while working at the Calhoun Writing Lab and the Athens State Writing Center is to help engage students to strengthen their writing skills for more effective communication now and for the future. Leah enjoys reading, writing, learning, and teaching anything that is interesting and mind-engaging.
