Twenty-eight teams, sixty-five sponsors and numerous volunteers supported the 25th Annual Athens State University Alumni Golf Classic on Thursday, May 12 at Canebrake Club in Athens. This event serves as the Alumni Association’s largest scholarship fundraiser. Proceeds are disbursed each academic year and have increased from $6,000 annually to more than $20,000.
Spain Reese made a hole-in-one on Hole 8 winning a Kindle Fire courtesy of McClary Ford. Prizes were also awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in a Championship Flight and First Flight, as well as Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive prizes.
“This was our first hole-in-one in the history of our Golf Classic,” stated Trish Di Lullo, Athens State’s Director of Alumni Affairs and Annual Giving. “It was very exciting for it to happen on the 25th anniversary.”
The 2015-2016 Golf Scholarship recipients are Shelley Bess, Kethry Blaylock, Taylor Edwards, Martha Espinoza, Jessie Halcomb, Jarrod Hardy, Megan Love, and Stilyana Ruseva- all volunteered at the tournament.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
