The Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) is a statewide K-12 initiative managed by the Department of Education. The goal of ARI is to significantly improve reading instruction and ultimately achieve 100% literacy among public school students. The Alabama Reading Initiative provides teachers training to help them teach in proven and effective ways, specifically Scientifically Based Reading Research.
As the ARI expands to reach more schools, the volume of training needs and support also increases. ARI partners with the Regional In-Service Centers to create the position of Regional Reading Coaches.
