Accounting Club Students Present at IMA Regional Council’s Professional Development Program[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Professor Emily Corzine, current Accounting Club faculty advisor, traveled to Birmingham with four accounting students on April 21 to present two hours of continuing professional education to the IMA GulfSouth Council as part of their professional development program. Student club officers Jeffery Vernon, Stephanie Baldwin, Jacob Perdue, and Matthew Andrews presented on the topic “Meetings To Go,” explaining how to host meetings in a web-conferencing format. Their presentation included information on how to perform these meetings, tools available for hosts, participant requirements, platforms, costs, and best practices for online meetings. The Accounting Club students did an outstanding job speaking to the group of professionals, demonstrating various technology platforms, and even answering many complex questions from council members.
In addition to presenting, the students were able to listen to and learn from six hours of other CPE presentations by various speakers. Topics covered included business crisis management, corporate governance, and file management for staying in compliance with the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
