The Alabama Center for the Arts will present Two & Two, a gallery show featuring four artists in a variety of mediums. The exhibition will run from May 15th through August 5th.
A Meet the Artists reception will be held during 3rd Friday on May 15 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Select artists will be speaking about their works, sponsored by the Livingston Concert Lecture Series at Athens State University. The event is free and open to the public.
Artists showing their works in the exhibit include Adam Crosson, Peter Abrami, Gracelee Lawrence, and Laurel Sheer. All are current graduate students from The University of Texas at Austin.
Two & Two artists explore themes of language, the body, memory, and transitional states of being, emphasizing pairs, doubles, and repetition. Through painting, sculpture, and works in new media, these artists showcase the diverse modes of making encouraged in the Studio Art program at The University of Texas at Austin.
Athens States Art Professor Gail Bergeron earned her Master of Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and her relationship with the school was instrumental in bringing this exhibition to the ACA.
”We are looking forward to the installation of this particular show,” said Center Manager Jennifer Bunnell. “There will be large sculpture pieces along with traditional works on linen and canvas. The entire show may spill out on to our patio which will be a first for us.
The Exhibition will be held in the main gallery of the Alabama Center for the Arts located at 133 2nd Avenue NE in Decatur. The Alabama Center for the Arts is the region’s premier art center and degree program. The project continues a long-standing collaborative academic effort between Calhoun and Athens State and serves as a model of academic institutional cooperation for the state.
