Annual Flag Day Ceremony to Honor U.S. Flag and First Responders

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Flag Day[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Athens State’s annual Flag Day Ceremony and Cookout is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14 at noon in the Sandridge Student Center Ballroom on the Athens State University campus. Anthony Clifton, Director of DeKalb County EMA, will be the guest speaker. Clifton is a 2011 graduate and received the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Athens State University Alumni Association.

Local first responder vehicles from the Athens Fire Department, Athens Police Department, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, and Athens Emergency Medical Services will be on display on the lawn of Brown Hall.

The Athens State Community Band under the direction of Dan Havely will provide a musical prelude and Copeland Road will sing the Star Spangled Banner. Boy Scout Troop 240 will post the colors. The Athens State University Alumni Association and University Grill are hosting this event and it is free and open to the public.
