Athens State University to Host “CONNECTED” Career Development Event

The Career Development Center and Office of Student Inclusion are pleased to present “CONNECTED: Providing Career Opportunities Through Diversity & Inclusion,” a networking and career day event for local high school students and parents, Athens State University students, local employers, and community leaders. The multi-part event will take place at Athens State University on April 14.

The day will begin with a Career Development opportunity for high schools students, then move to a Diversity Panel and opportunity to have a professional headshot taken, and then end with an Employer and Community Meet & Mingle event.

The event schedule is as follows:

“Next Steps” – High School Student Career Development Event

Carter Gymnasium from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

“Next Steps” is an interactive event that will assist high school students in preparing for a career after graduation. This event will feature keynote speaker, Mrs. Melva Tate, as she delivers a presentation titled “You’re Next – Planning Career Success in a Global Society.”

Students will also have an opportunity to meet Athens State’s Admissions and Financial Aid Teams, take a selfie with Hebrew the Bear, take a campus tour, attend a FASFA presentation, and visit with college and military recruiters. Lunch will be provided.

“CONNECTED” continues with a Diversity, Equity, and InclusionPanel Discussion. This free event will allow attendees an exclusive opportunity to learn about local employers and their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Employer and Community Meet & Mingle Event

Athens State University Ballroom from 4:00 – 7:00 pm

“CONNECTED” will conclude with a networking opportunity for local talent and employers. Complimentary beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
