[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The Baker Street Irregulars will meet on Tuesday, October 6th at 7:00 pm in the Parlor of Founders Hall on the Athens State University campus. Dr. Bob Glenn will lead a discussion of the story entitled: “His Last Bow.” All can attend – you do not have to be a Sherlock Holmes expert to participate. A group has been created at meetup.com that enthusiasts are encouraged to join and receive updates. This discussion is a prelude to the Sherlock Holmes highlights on the upcoming British Landscapes trip.

The Athens State University Alumni Association is hosting a trip to Britain, Scotland and Wales on March 17-26, 2016, led by Dr. Kevin Dupré. Sherlock Holmes’ enthusiasts will be invited on specialized side excursions including Speedy’s Café, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night and visits to the University of Edinburgh and Picardy Triangle.  Non-Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts will enjoy the trip as well and can opt-out of the Sherlock Holmes add-ons.

Dr. Kevin Dupré, Athens State Professor of English who teaches British literature courses, will guide any would-be sleuth’s on these jaunts during some of the downtime during the trip from March 17-26, 2016. Dr. Bob Glenn, Athens State President and avid lifelong fan of Sherlock Holmes, will also share his expertise on Sherlock Holmes on the trip.

An online trip presentation will be offered on Thursday, November 5th at 6:00 pm. Watch the Calendar of Events at www.athens.edu for details on how to log-in and participate. A travel representative from Collette will lead the online presentation and be available to answer questions for interested travelers. Call the Office of Alumni Affairs at 256-233-8185 or email alumni@athens.edu for more details or to RSVP for the presentation.

The price of the 10 day trip includes round trip airfare from Huntsville, hotel transfers and 12 meals. Rates start at $3,699 per person for double occupancy accommodations. Extra fees may apply for the Sherlock Holmes excursions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
