Students from Athens State University’s College of Business recently toured Deshazo Automation in Decatur, Alabama. Students from the Accounting Club, APICS (Association of Supply Chain Management), operations management, and project management received a tour of Deshazo’s production floor and machine shop.
Deshazo designs, builds, and installs robotic systems for advanced performance. Some of their customers include Carrier, GE, and Toyota. The Decatur facility is headquarters for the robotics division. The site has been in operation since 1997 and employs approximately 40 people. Deshazo is also one of the largest leading original equipment manufacturers of overhead cranes in the United States with tens of thousands of overhead cranes in service worldwide. They utilize CAD/CAM technology to feed state of the art machine tools with design data and 3D modeling to optimize the engineering design. The tour was hosted by Mr. Said Lachtioui, Engineering Manager, and Katie Ghoja, Office Manager.
