Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of each semester. At the end of fall and spring semesters, three ceremonies are held- one for each college – Arts and Sciences, Business and Education. Each ceremony is held in the Athens State University Carter Physical Education Center Gymnasium.
At the end of the summer semester, one ceremony is held on the lawn of Founders Hall, weather permitting.
This summer, Athens State University is honoring spring and summer graduates at the Summer 2020 commencement ceremonies. To ensure a healthy and safe environment for all graduates, guests, faculty, and staff, social distancing measures will be put into place, which limits the total number of occupants for Carter Gymnasium.
To accommodate social distancing restrictions, each graduate will receive TWO tickets for guests. While we understand this may be difficult for some graduates, it is the only way we can ensure appropriate space is maintained. For those who aren’t able to attend, we will be streaming the live event. Links will be made available through the Athens State University website (/www.athens.edu/commencement/ and social media accounts.
Please register guests (up to two) by clicking one of the “Ceremony Tickets” links in the menu to the right.
Graduates and their guests must have their temperature screened before entering Carter Gymnasium. Those who have a temperature greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit will be unable to enter the building.
Guests should provide the Eventbrite ticket for access (either digitally on a smartphone or the printed version). Event personnel can also look guests up by first or last name.
Guests are required to wear a mask or similar face covering. It is requested that masks be work at all times while inside Carter Gymnasium and only be removed for photo opportunities when outdoors.
