Please join us as we welcome Mark Moore for a talk on the LGBTQ+ perspective.

Mark Moore looks forward to sharing a brief history of the LGBTQ+ movement through the sense of a gay, black, Southern man. The talk will touch on language, history, healthcare, politics, and religion.

Huntsville-native Mark Moore is the director of development and marketing at Thrive Alabama, a healthcare nonprofit that serves people from all walks of life, including the LGBTQ+ community. He also serves on the Boards of the American Advertising Federation North Alabama and First Stop, a homeless support nonprofit. He is a member of Leadership Greater Huntsville Class 34 and serves on the Choice Neighborhood Initiative and Public Arts committees.

Mark holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Montevallo. At the University of Montevallo, Mark formed the school’s first gay/straight alliance. After college, he served on the Boards of Central Alabama Pride and Covenant Community Church, a welcoming and affirming congregation and was assistant editor of Alabama’s gay newspaper, The Alabama Forum.

He and his partner are the proud dads of three rescue pups.
