SUMMARY:Athens State University Community Band Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Athens State University Community Band\, a collaboration of musicians from the local community and the campus community\, will perform in McCandless Hall for this special concert. \nThis event is FREE and open to the public! Registration is required due to limited seating. \n– – \nThe Community Band performs throughout the year at various community and University events\, including Veterans Day\, Flag Day\, Constitution Day\, and others\, and hosts an annual Christmas Concert and Spring Concert. \nThe Band was originally started by Dan Havely\, the retired director of the nationally-renowned Athens High School “Golden Eagle” Band. He led the Community Band from 2003-16. Former directors include Roy Adams (2016-17)\, Steven Porter (2018-20)\, and Tim Clinton (2021-present). \nThe group rehearses in McCandless Hall on the Athens State University campus at 7:00 PM most Monday nights throughout the year.
