Huntsville Hospital Health System Chief Financial Officer Kelli Powers will be the keynote speaker at Athens State University’s summer commencement on Saturday, August 2 at 9 a.m. Graduation exercises will be in the front of Founders Hall on Athens State’s campus. Approximately 150 students are expected to graduate.
Powers was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Huntsville Hospital Health System in 2014, following four years as the Chief Executive Officer of Athens-Limestone Hospital. Previously, she served as the Chief Executive Officer at Lanier Health Services in Valley, Alabama.
Powers’ 23-year healthcare career has also included finance-related roles in several large organizations in the state, including Baptist Health in Montgomery, East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, and DCH Health System in Tuscaloosa.
An Alabama native, Powers earned an accounting degree from The University of Alabama in 1990. She later received a Masters of Management in Health Care degree from Vanderbilt University.
Powers has been active in the communities where she has served and was named the 2012 Citizen of the Year in Limestone County by the Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband Mark have two children, Sydney and Mark Allen, both students at The University of Alabama.
