Athens State University’s religious studies programs are designed for any individual interested in gaining a broad perspective of major religious traditions across the world and strengthening their knowledge and understanding of religious subject matter. Through the programs, you’ll study topics such as theology, world religions, religious ethics and history, biblical studies, and religious education.
The non-denominational programs provide students an opportunity to learn about religion in a neutral setting while promoting critical thinking and research in an open, honest environment. Both the bachelor’s degree program in Religion and the master’s degree program in Religious Studies can be completed entirely online. First introduced at Athens State in 1938, religious programs prepare graduates for a career in pastoral leadership, teaching, research, social work, counseling, and other service-minded professions.
