About the Kares Library


The Kares Library supports the academic mission of the University by providing an organized collection, delivering access to instruction and research services, offering usable physical and virtual spaces, and hiring and retaining highly qualified employees.


The purpose of the Athens State University Kares Library is to support students, faculty, staff, and the community through:

  1. developing and maintaining a high quality, responsive, useful, and timely collection of materials and services to support academic programs and the institution.
  2. the utilization of instruction in information literacy and research services.
  3. providing and maintaining useable physical and virtual spaces.
  4. retaining and hiring highly qualified employees who are committed to the continued success of the university


The Kares Library operating hours for the Fall 2021 semester starting Monday, August 16th to Friday, December 3rd are as follows:

Monday to Thursday: 8 am to 7 pm
Friday: 8 am to 4:30 pm
Saturday: CLOSED
Sunday: Virtual only, 10 am to 6 pm

Virtual hours end 15 minutes prior to the close of the building. Please see our Facebook page for monthly and holiday hours.
