Bailey Gregory

bailey-gregoryAthens State University taught me how to be a leader. Before Athens State I wanted to go to school and come home. I was not even sure if I even wanted to go to college. Once I arrived at Athens State University, Tena Bullington (Student Activities) took me under her wing. She introduced me to the Student Government Association. Joining SGA changed my life for the better. I became involved with other organizations and grew close to my peers and sponsors. There are two different kinds of leaders and Athens State University definitely helped me become a “Learned Leader”.

When I left Athens State University, I left knowing that I had a family that supported me and loved me as if I was their own. I have been pushed and given many opportunities that may not have been possible if I would have choose another school. I think my biggest success story with Athens State University was getting to lead The first annual Prancing Paws Carnival Celebration. I got to take my passion for helping homeless animals to another level. Over $1,400 was made in donations along with lots of items for local shelters. Since then I have continued to participate in events with local shelters.

While at ASU, I received a golf scholarship for multiple semesters. I met Trish Dilulo and Chelsea Love while participating in the community events for these scholarships. I was able to help with the golf tournament in May 2014. It felt awesome to work this tournament knowing that someone else would receive the money as a scholarship to help further their education just like me.

Athens State University taught me many lessons about myself and helped me prepare for the future. I was able to meet amazing people who wanted to see me succeed just as much as I did. I went from NEVER wanting to attend college to graduating with a double major in Human Resources Management and Business Management. The career services on campus helped me find an internship at Trident Technologies, LLC. I was hired on full time at Trident Technologies after graduation where I am the Human Resources Generalist.

I will never forget the people I met at Athens State University.I walked in Athens State University not wanting to participate in anything, but I walked out of Athens State University with two bachelors degrees, a full time job, a learned leader, and with a family that I will never forget. I am happy to share my Athens State Success Story and even more happy to be an Athens State University Alumni!
