Athens State University will be hosting a Community Block Party on Friday, October 20 as part of its annual Homecoming Celebration.
The event will take place in front of Founders Hall and feature food trucks, magic from world-class magician Scotty Wiese, and entertainment from The Flashbacks Show Band. Children ages 12 and under can also enjoy face painting, games, and activities at the event’s Cubs Corner. The block party will begin at 6:30 pm, with the Flashbacks concert to begin at 7:00 pm.
The Flashbacks Show Band is a multi-dimensional band playing only the hits of Motown, Disco, Pop, Rock, and today’s Top 40. The musicians in the group come together from a wide array of musical backgrounds and have been likened to such performers as the Temptations, with dance moves and showy choreography. The fun they have with audience interaction and with each other on stage is contagious, resulting in great fun for everyone.
The block party is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets.
