
Athens State University’s Writing Center will be hosting the Summer Writing & Arts Summit from June 26-27. The Summit is an educational and inspirational event for writers, artists, or anyone interested in the creative arts and for those who are interested in learning a craft or developing their skill.
On Thursday, June 26, the Summit will take place on the campus of Athens State University in Athens, Alabama, and feature writing workshops, work-in-progress sessions, and author panel discussions. Session options will include a poetry workshop, Publishing Basics, Creating a Novel, Grant-Writing, and more. In addition to writing workshops, a Gentle Yoga for Mental Fitness session will also be offered.
On Friday, June 27, the Summit will be held at the Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur, Alabama, and feature workshops in areas of the arts such as painting, drama, and more. The conference will culminate with an Arts Reception and Open Mic at 3:15 pm in the Alabama Center for the Arts’ Main Gallery where special guests, faculty, and students will showcase their work.
A vendor fair will also be on site for both days of the Summit, giving authors, artists, and artisans an opportunity to sell their products.
