All students wishing to receive TA should contact their ESO counselor prior to enrolling at Athens State University.
Miscellaneous Military/Government Sponsors
Submit appropriate document for approved tuition assistance, such as the SF182, to kelly.leigeber@athens.edu.
Approved amount will be applied as a credit to your account. The credit is a deferred payment that is invoiced to the sponsor. No exchange of money has taken place at that time. The credit amount applied is subject to change based on the amount received from the sponsor.
Any portion of tuition and fees not included in your approved documentation, or not a covered charge by the sponsor, is due by payment deadline for the semester.

Alabama G.I. Dependent Scholarship Program (STATE Benefits)
This is an academic scholarship program administered by the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs and applies to dependents of Alabama’s disabled veterans. Please see this link for information on eligibility requirements, to create an account and apply for benefits, or for transfer of benefits from one school to another: https://va.alabama.gov/dependents-scholarship/
Scholarship students are required by VA to complete a FAFSA for each aid year that you plan to use the scholarship. This scholarship is payer of last resort-all other scholarships and grants will be applied to your charges prior to Alabama G.I. Dependent Scholarship.
You will also need to fill out a Consent to the Release of Educational Records (you will be sent this document after your Certificate of Eligibility is received) and comply with Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. Failure to meet these requirements will result in the reversal of any applied scholarship credits.
